This is by far my favorite, best & most used hair tool. CHI Original Ceramic 1' Hairstyling Irons are used in professional beauty shops but are easy enough to use at home by hairstyling beginners.Since this hairstyling iron uses moist heat to style your hair, it does less damage than traditional straighteners.
I was VERY disappointed in my new purchase and something is definitely different about this newer classic straightener. Ladies with thick and curly hair can go higher, while the ones with thinner and straighter hair can go lower. I recently broke my old straightener so I went to purchase a brand new one from Ulta thinking it would be even better than before considering the amount of time that I had had my old one thinking it could only improve from here. The five adjustable heat settings are 300 F, 325 F, 350 F, 375 F, and 400 F degrees. You can also adjust & lock the temperature of the brush so that if your hair is very curly & you need a high temp, you can use a high setting (for my hair, I use a low-medium temp of 350-400 degrees). The curler/straightener is also equipped with an auto shut-off feature that turns the tool off after 30 minutes. It usually remains that way until I wash my hair again every 2-3 days (high humidity can bring back some waves & curls, but humidity ruins blowouts & other styles, too).
This process has never taken more than five minutes, but it smooths my hair so that the different sections & textures look & feel cohesive. Using the hot brush, I apply a heat protectant (never hair spray, specifically use a heat protectant), clip up the top sections of my hair, literally & slowly brush through the underside of my hair, release the top layer from the clips, and slowly brush through the top layers. I prefer to air dry my hair, which often makes it frizzy or causes odd waves & curls. My hair is thick but fine, straight in places, slightly wavy in others, and has tight kinky curls in the back underside. The English brand GHD, which stands for 'Good Hair Day', is somewhat of a king in the world of hair straighteners.And of course, left unused, the straightener will turn itself off after just 30 minutes a function that all GHD straighteners possess. The brush also straightens my hair but makes it look more natural & retains some volume, whereas a flatiron only straightens my hair like a board and then I have to tease or fluff it myself for any volume.
